Introduction

Hi, my name is Mohamad Abdullah, a member of the Malaysian Insurance Institute, popularly known as the MII Toastmasters Club, numbered 8495 under Area W2 of District 51.
I have been a member of the Toastmasters International for almost three decades starting from Butterworth Toastmasters in 1980. I have served as Area Governor when it was still a Territorial Council and a Division Governor for Division C besides the other positions I have held in the Clubs and District.
My Club President and VP Education had submitted my name to District 51 Nomination Committee and am glad to be informed that the District Nomination Committee has nominated me as the Lt Governor Marketing for Peninsular Malaysia.
My role as the LGM will be to assist the District Governor in ensuring that our District gets the recognition of a President Distinguished District by ensuring that we have the required number of new clubs and new members. This I will promise to do.
My strategy when chosen is to focus on marketing Toastmasters at National level. I like to bring Toastmasters to every household in the country, particularly in Peninsular Malaysia. In this way, I believe, I would make the job of Division and Area Governors as well as Presidents of clubs easier as people will now come knocking on their doors to join their club or forming a club. With this I hope the officials will have more time to improve on the quality of our clubs, hence, seeing less clubs closing down and fewer members resigning.
It is my belief that people will join us and new clubs will be started if we have quality. Our unique selling proposition is our existing members; they are also our ambassadors and our sales men and women. When we identify ourselves as Toastmasters we must be able to stand up and speak, and speak well. As a member of the organisation we would then be standing tall when the general public recognise us as someone who has better self-confidence and someone who is able to communicate effectively.
I believe Toastmasters is still relevant in this Region and there are lots of opportunities for us to further expand the organisation. Let us bring back the glory of being the number one District in the world. Let me help the incoming District Governor achieve this.

  1. Dear Fellow Toastmasters of District 51,

It takes more than just mere words and a big pat on the back to stand as a genuine candidate for the post of LGM.
DTM En.Mohamad Abdullah has been with the Toastmasters organisation for 3 decades and together with other dedicated Toastmasters like PDG DTM Gerald Green, were instrumental in the " birth " of D51.
Life as they say comes to a full circle and today we have arrived at another defining moment in the history of D51, where we will be D51 Peninsular Malaysia in 2010.
At an age where most of us will be contented with holding our grandchildren on our laps, DTM En.Mohamad Abdullah continues to pour his 30 years of experience and resources in promoting the benefits of this global non-profit organisation called Toastmasters International.
I am extremely proud that the founder of my illustrious club - the MII Toastmasters Club - 8495/51 has put his name forward as the candidate for the post of Lieutenant Governor Marketing Peninsular Malaysia with a vision to take D51 to the National level.

I would like to sincerely urge all members of D51 to endorse DTM Mohamad Abdullah as the next LGM. He is your candidate to bring D51 back as the No.1 District in the world.

    Yours sincerely,

    Leong Kok Wah 012 - 366 7780
    President 2008/09
    MII Toastmasters Club.
